Looking forward to getting out and doing some shooting later this week, it was so nice the day we got to go shoot this park. This is the beginning part of the trail that scales down into the canyon to hike over to the waterfall. Most of the trail is put together using these old stones and creates a very cool natural feeling hike. It was pretty strenuous, especially on the way back up! Enjoy the shot, let me know what you think and as always share and invite people to follow along in the journey!
Today's daily photo might seem a little confusing at first and busy but I think it is pretty sweet. I shot this at a park a couple weeks back and it is in the same location as the ice shore lake shot I showed you a few days ago. This tree you see actually grew almost horizontal across the walking path and I thought the way it kind of "reached out" created a very cool look. On the bottom part of the image you can actually see the lake in the background and I think the interesting clouds really just kind of finish off an interesting scene. I would love to hear your thought so comment and share!
How about a daily photo? Well you are getting one either way. This is a shot of the waterfall from Petit Jean only from a different angle and with a fish eye lens. I normally am not a huge fan of shooting with these and this was actually my wifes idea for the shot and I think it worked out pretty sweet. This rock cliff hangs right over the cove for the falls and creates this really cool enclosure and I think this captures it pretty well. Do you dig the fish eye? Please comment and share!
Well today's daily photo is the second shot I have produced which included this tree. I don't like this image nearly as much as the other but I like the cold almost dead feeling going on with the busted up jeep and the dramatic clouds and dead grass. Let me know what you guys think of this and it'll be up in the gallery momentarily along with all my other stuff which is still 40% off for prints for the week.
Happy Monday all, I hope your weeks got started off well. Mine did we hit 1,000 likes last night! So for this week and this week only every fine art photo in my gallery is on sale for 40% off. I am basically not making anything on these sales, it is just my way to say thank you for following along. After this one week my prices will go back to normal and you won't see a sale like this again anytime soon. Please share with friends and family and get your orders in this week. The picture below though is for today's daily photo and it was a shot from Petit Jean State Park and this is part of the run off from the wonderful waterfall I showed you the other day. I hope you guys enjoy it and I love feedback so comment away.
I had the lovely privilege of getting to do a family photo shoot for the Brown family today and we had so much fun! The kids were awesome and well behaved and even though the weather didn't cooperate with the outdoor part of our shoot, I still think we got some great shots.
For your daily dose of photo today I thought I would give a shot with something in it I haven't really encountered before. This lake was frozen in this bay area to my left and it was open water to my right in the deeper part and it created almost this artificial "beach" that just ran through the middle of the lake. It just seemed so odd how defined it was. I also like the popcorn clouds (that's what I call them) and hope you do too. Cheers!
Today I give you "Stumpy"! Yes I named it. This was just a random tree stump that I hiked past while working my way down into the canyon for the waterfall and I just thought it was cool looking. The texture and the way it kind of twists and the hollowed out part in the middle and the way the roots come off of it. I hope you guys like Stumpy.
So today we are getting some pretty sweet thunderstorms but yesterday I hiked my way to a pretty awesome waterfall in Petit Jean State Park in the Ozarks and shot this! I am sitting on a rock in the middle of the river and it was worth every bit of the hike it took to get there. I also have a on location Google Glass video to go along with this shot which I will link in about an hour. I hope you guys like it and would love feedback. (Yes this is non-hdr). Comment and share away.
So today's daily photo is from back in Tulsa and I believe one of the last I have. I didn't get a lot of night shots while I was there dude to horrible weather but this church is one I did. I was astounded at how many cool looking churches they had there. I am probably off in the Ozarks somewhere shooting today so I hope you enjoy. Share and give your thoughts below!
Today we go non HDR for a change of pace. When I was on my way home from shooting the other day I drove past this river on highway 63 in Arkansas and ripped a u-turn and pulled over on the side of a 60mph highway to run across and take this before the light went away. Honestly the photo doesn't do the scene justice. It was like staring into a mirror it was so still. I purposely cropped it to be widescreen aspect and I hope you all enjoy. Share and give your thoughts!
So yesterdays photo was a smashing success, glad you guys liked. Today's photo a drastic change in direction from that. I love old rusty vehicles and I don't really find many worth shooting very often but this jeep as tore up as it is seemed oddly "put together" and I liked it. I don't think it is quite as awesome as the bus shot but I like it none the less. Let me know your thoughts and share and comment away! P.S. I need more submission for the photo contest so go take part!
February 16th, 2014 - A Million Branches
So here is my crown jewel from the photos I took yesterday. I am so very in love with this tree. Add in the weird junk strewn about on the ground, the cool sky and the sunset bathing everything in a warm light and we have one of my favorite shots I have taken in quite a while. Let me know what you think and as always share and give me your feedback!
February 15th, 2014 - Waiting for the Thaw
So today you get another bird, again I am not sure on what kind of bird it is but since I snapped a few of these the other day I figured I should share them. They are cropped pretty far down so I probably won't put it on the site, but they are fun to look at. I will definitely try and get some cool bird shots this spring. I am actually out shooting probably as this posts so here is hoping I bring home some good stuff!
February 14th, 2014 - Happy Valentines Day
So since it is Valentines Day I thought I would cheat a little today and put up a basic snap shot of my love and I. I know you don't get a super fancy photo, but most of you are off doing more important things then staring at my daily photo anyway! But this is myself and my gorgeous wife Sara who has put up with me for roughly the last 6 years and still isn't sick of me. Yes deal with the mushy photo and we will get back to normal tomorrow.
So I guess you guys were not so jazzed about the time lapse. I think they are cool and I will try one with a more interesting sky sometime. Today however is a black and white vs color vote of a long pedestrian walk bridge that is in Tulsa, OK. I liked all the competing lines and the immense depth you feel when looking across it. Let me know your guys' opinions on if you like it and which one you prefer, cheers! (Color won)
February 12th, 2014 - My First Timelapse
So instead of one photo, today you get 360 of them! Well kinda. This is a time lapse video I shot yesterday evening to really just test and see how it would go. It wasn't the most interesting of skies but a small blurp of coolness towards the end. Figured you guys wouldn't mind if I changed it up a bit for a day. Let me know what you think!
Anyone in the mood for some Hawaii today? I know I am! Excited that warmer weather is in the forecast. On a side note although not cheap if you ever go to Hawaii investing in a helicopter tour is the best money you will ever spend. I plan to do many many more, it is an amazing way to see some of the most remote beautiful parts. Enjoy the shot, of course comment, like and share with all!
So today's daily photo might look familiar for those who have spent any time on the website. This is kind of the little brother shot to my favorite shot of lightning I have taken and was taken in the same spot in Savannah, GA. Good news is sounds like weather should be letting up later this week and I will be able to get out and do some shooting! I hope you guys enjoy, looking forward to storm season!
Wanted to have some fun editing today and because I am missing warm weather I figured I would use a shot from Hawaii. This was just a random shot I took while walking the beaches with the wife and I just went nuts with it. Hope you enjoy. Share, comment and like below.
February 8th, 2014 - Ruby Falls
So today's daily photo can't be published because I took it on private property (boo). This was a shot I did last year at a place called Ruby Falls in Tennessee. This waterfall is 65 feet tall which is pretty cool on its own. Add in that the waterfall itself is actually nearly 1,200 feet underground and well, that is just awesome. Very cool sight to see, not for the claustrophobic though
Today's daily photo comes from the top of Mount Magazine State Park in the Ozarks and the cool rain wisps are what really make this photo interesting. The clouds are pretty sweet too. The thing I really like is I took it in the middle of the nice hot summer, oh how I miss summer! Share, like and let me know what you think!
So to keep with the trend of doing some new types of photography while I was packing up the Jeep yesterday to go shoot that lake shot I noticed a group of birds playing in the trees next to my driveway. I have never photographed birds before but I thought "Why not?" and got my 70-200 out and gave it a whirl. Kind of a double bonus that we got an ice storm the day before and the tree branches looked pretty sweet. You guys dig the bird photography idea? Share both with friends and your thoughts below.
So today's daily photo is something you have never seen from me before. This is what is called a mid day long exposure HDR (a mouthful I know). This is kind of a test image to see what people think. I shot this today and this is at a park just north of where I live. The water is actually not ice, it was actually quite windy and wavy but I used a variable neutral density filter to make the water look almost glass like by shooting a 30 second exposure which couldn't normally be done in the middle of the day. The weather was disgusting but I really wanted to try this out. I would really appreciate some feedback on this and don't be afraid to be honest! As always you are welcome to share also.
I have really been working a lot in black and white lately, it is an interesting thing to me due to the fact that I am color blind and seeing my work and how it comes out differently depending on which I choose. (I tend to like dramatic contrasty images either way). Today is a shot from the same abandon farm I shot the black and white "desolation" shot at last week I posted. I am a sucker for old dilapidated things. I hope you guys enjoy, as always share and give feedback!
I love 90% of this photo and think it could have been really awesome. The tent in the foreground just ruined it for me though. But I loved the sky and the scene besides it so I decided to share it with you. I do have an actual shot that I am publishing tomorrow and I am going on location Wednesday to shoot some new stuff. I hope you guys enjoy the shot and feel free to tell me what you think of it.
February 2nd, 2014 - LIghtning Tree Crawling
So I am kind of copping out on today's daily photo because I am not planning to publish this, but I found it in some old work that I was sorting through and I just thought the lightning going through the trees was pretty sweet looking. I really can't wait for spring to come so I can get out and really shoot some awesome storms this year. I hope you like even though it isn't the most epic of photos
Today's daily photo was kind of a lost accident. I am sorting through shelved work I have banked to fill in this time where I am not out shooting much and this was one from Gunner Pool I had put on the back burner. I am really hoping to get out on the road more here shortly. Until then I hope you enjoy. Please comment and share away. This one I would love some feedback on because I am not 100% on it. Thanks.
