We are trying the auto schedule again and I am probably in route to Hawaii, I really love my job. Today I bring you a shot of a female orangutan from Memphis Zoo. At first I thought she was a child but I was wrong. I just love that you can see the emotion in her eyes and the way her back foot just comes up like that. I hope you guys enjoy it too. Feel free to give you freed back in the comments below and I always love when people share!
Was watching some racing and nearly forgot to post your daily photo! Not to worry I remembered though and I give you a shot of a pier that is on a beach on Tybee Island which is just north of Savannah. I took a few different compositions and styles of this but this one you see is a daytime long exposure I did using my variable neutral density filter such as I did with the waterfall at Petit Jean. Some nice waves were rolling in giving it this kind of misty foggy look. I hope you enjoy, please share and let me know what you think.
How about a beautiful red panda for today? I was extremely excited because I go to zoos quite often and every time they have had one of these guys they are usually way up in a tree and hard to photograph. Luckily this guy was coming down for some food I think. Beautiful animal and I hope you enjoy the shot. Uploading from my phone today but will put a high resolution version on the website soon.
So today's daily photo is from here in Savannah. The wife wanted to go and try out this place called Lulu's Chocolate Bar and while I am not a fan of sweets, you always indulge the wife. While she was enjoying her delicious cake I took a snap shot of some other folks enjoying their sweets and a shot of the display case. Didn't think much of the shot at the time but I think it came out pretty awesome. So if you are ever in Savannah give this place a look!
As promised, albeit late, I give you your daily photo from Savannah, GA. Honestly was shooting all day yesterday and skies were clear so I didn't have high hopes for the sunset, but I knew it was going to be near the bridge. I set up about 45 mins before sunset and it all just kind of fell into place. I really wanted to get part of the city skyline and the bridge both in the shot (thank you wide angle lens), but there is a lot more to the skyline to the left. I hope you guys enjoy your first daily photo from this crazy travel trip and you will have to let me know how it looks because I edited it on a laptop I don't normally edit on. If you enjoy please share with your friends and tell them to come join in the fun!
I most likely not as relaxed as this awesome monkey but I am loving the beautiful city of Savannah! Second time I have been to this city and it is awesome. Hope you guys enjoy all the animal photography. I know HDR is what you are used to getting but I like to think I am an all around photographer and love to shoot all different types. So lets all hope to be as awesome as this guy. Kick back, relax and bask in the sun!
March 25th, 2014 - Cozies for Kids
Today's daily photo comes from a recent product shoot I did for a crochet business called Cozies for Kids. It is always fun as a photographer to branch out and shoot things I don't normally get to do much. I am not a huge Dr. Who fan but I thought the scarf looked cool!
So my last day at home before the craziness begins. Savanna, Rome, Venice, Hawaii and then storm chasing season begins! Today though is a lazy day and we shall laze around with these awesome tigers from the zoo. The one on the left is just ridiculous. A little creative crop with this one but I really like the wide angle style of it. Hope you guys enjoy and as always please share!
March 23rd, 2014 - Stacked Rocks
Your daily photo today is a shot from the hike down to the waterfall at Petit Jean State Park and I just loved how it almost looked like these rocks were stacked up on top of each other. Almost looks like they are going to fall over on me! I hope you enjoy and let me know what you think. Feel free to share and comment!
We are actually back at the Memphis Zoo today both in daily photo and I am actually going there to visit with some family so hopefully I'll finally get a shot of the tigers. This shot of these monkeys I like to call "Family Meeting" because that is what it made me think of. There are few things cuter then monkeys. Hope you guys enjoy and leave some feedback below.
March 21st, 2014 - Na Pali Coast
It's 70 degrees and gorgeous out here in Arkansas. I have all the windows open and a nice breeze is blowing through the house. Makes me think of Hawaiian weather, so today you get a shot from the Na Pali Coast in Kauai, HI. This part of the island is very remote and can only be traveled to via boat or a very extensive and kind of dangerous hike. Looking forward to shooting some more Hawaii here coming up, until then enjoy this!
I absolutely love elephants and hope that someday I can travel to Africa and shoot some in nature. I couldn't get much of a shot at the zoo due to the fences, barriers etc but I got in nice and tight to show off the amazing detail in their hides. Ohh and I want to ride one of these guys someday too, that would be awesome. Enjoy the shot, comment, like and share away!
Got something a little different for you this evening. I have been sorting through some older shots seeing if I wanted to revisit anything and this one caught my eye. This is a perfect example of the greatness of wide angle lenses. No way could I create this perspective and get the whole building in. This is a concert hall in Nashville, TN. I like the banners hanging in between the columns too. What do you guys think?
Yes you are getting a lot of animal shots lately, but how is that a bad thing? They are so freaking cute and awesome. For those who want more HDR work, don't worry it is coming. I have a ton of traveling starting next week so it'll be taking back over in force. Until then enjoy the cute gorillas and such! Also I am convinced this guy was sitting there analyzing each person as they walked by deciding which one he wanted to rip the arms off of lol. Let me know if you guys like the shot and please remember to share my images or page with your friends and family and invite them to come follow along in our daily adventures.
Today I bring you my least favorite car of all time! This was parked at the guys farm who had the old Chevy truck also. What is funny by looking at this you would think it was all broken down but the guy says it runs like a top. Either way I liked the flames and the contrast of the idea of fire while it sits in a pile of ice amused me. You guys dig it?
So the voting was tied on what to post (at least as of me scheduling this) and I decided to go with the leopard today and the car tomorrow. I posted a HDR yesterday so we will go with a regular shot today. This is a snow leopard also at Memphis Zoo and I was able to get in pretty close with my 70-200 and get between the fencing to get a pretty clean shot. I love big cats and could photograph them forever and be happy. Let me know if you guys dig it and make sure to share and invite friends to come follow along!
March 15th, 2014 - Petit Jean State Park
Your daily photo today isn't the most exciting shot ever taken but I really enjoyed the sky in it and way off in the distance is this kind of cool hill that is just visible. This is at the top of Petit Jean park. The canyon below me is where I hiked down to get the shots of the waterfall I have been posting lately.
So today's daily photo is of some sort of deer/goat type thing and I feel like a moron for not knowing but it was pretty awesome. I thought this little guy was going to fall right off the edge of that rock, but it knew what it was doing. As a weird side note, this is nearly straight off of my camera. It is really nice when I really nail an exposure, composition and focus right on. I hope you enjoy the shot and if you know what this thing is, please let me know . As usual share and give feedback! (I found out it is called a Klipspringer)
March 13th, 2014 - The Beautiful Brianne
I love making women feel beautiful and I love showing them how beautiful they are. Doing modeling shoots is one of my favorite portraiture styles to do. Something about seeing the reaction on the models face when I show them how great they look makes the prep work worth every minute. Enjoy!
Today's daily photo is probably the last shot of the Petit Jean waterfall I am going to produce. I really wanted to get a nice close one in black and white. Wish I could have been about 6 feet higher off the ground when I shot this but I like how it came out either way. What do you guys think?
Today I bring you so much cuteness your brain may explode. This is a male and female orangutans at the Memphis zoo who basically hammed it up for the camera and I appreciate it greatly. Photographing animals is quite fun, capturing that little moment of emotion in something so foreign is quite satisfying. Let me know what you think of the shot and as always please share with friends and invite them to follow along.
So a few days ago I went out on one of my "free styling" trips to shoot which is where I drive around aimlessly looking for interesting stuff to shoot. Sara went with me and I stopped at this guys house to take a few shots and he was very kind and accommodating to this weird guy showing up with a camera. He was working on this old Chevy truck and having an affinity for old rusty things I had to try and get a shot. There was a harsh sunlight and deep shadows so I went for a low key dramatic black and white on it. I hope you guys enjoy and let me know if you like it.
I would love to tell you today's daily photo is of this beautiful lion letting out a huge roar and I happened to be there to capture the moment. I can't though, he was actually yawning. Pretty obvious cause of his tongue. Still though, check out those teeth! Had a blast at the zoo yesterday and have plenty more to share with you. Let me know what you guys think and make sure to share away!
Today I am at the zoo hopefully getting some nice shots of some cool animals with my little and my wife so I'll have some of those for you soon. This shot however is one I did yesterday for an on location video blog about leading lines. I'll be 100% honest and say I didn't quite capture what I was hoping for but I still think it is a pretty cool shot. I will link the video blog here shortly. Until then let me know if you dig the shot of good old Arkansas farm country.
Daily photo is very late but it is here! Sorry it's so late, I have some other stuff I could have uploaded but I wanted to share something new and I just shot this an hour ago, so here ya go! All I can tell you is that it's a crop duster, a very cool looking one and it happened to be sitting on a runway with a really sweet sky behind it and I loved the water reflecting on the ground. I hope you all enjoy it as well and shoot me some feedback. Please share and invite others to come follow along.
Yeah it has been horrible weather here lately so you are getting lots of Petit Jean and this wonderful waterfall. Feels weird posting so little HDR work as of late. No worries though, we are just a few weeks out from a whole ton of traveling and a massive influx of new work! This shot was from the same spot I took the wide first shot I showed you of these falls and the one I did the on location video from just composed a little differently to show off the cool rocks in the foreground more. Enjoy, comment and share!
Well today's daily photo is the last of that wonderful tree I love ever so much and honestly this one is more about the sky and less about the tree. I really loved the transition of cool sky to warm sun and the clouds had started to break a bit this late into the sunset and made for some really nice contrast in the clouds. What do you guys think? Which of the three shots involving this tree did you like the most? Comment and as always share away!
Today I bring you another shot from Petit Jean, this was further down the creek from the run off from the waterfall and another feeder creek met up with it. I had a hard time deciding on an angle to shoot this, but I think it came out pretty well. What do you think? Share and comment below! Also prices in the gallery are set to return to normal at midnight central tonight so you still have a chance if you are wanting a cheap print. Cheers.
So due to the massive amount of ice we got yesterday, today I am taking my brain and checking into Hawaii mode. What I really love about this shot of Waimea Canyon is that strong shadows the clouds cast because they float not far above the peaks of the canyon. I can't wait to go back. Comment and share away!
This is however your daily photo and you may be getting sick of this waterfall, but I'm not . Took a lot of work to hike down to this guy, you better believe I shot the heck out of it. What is cool about this one to me is that you can see the cascading over the rocks before it falls down a bit and the splash out at the water I think looks really cool. Using a variable ND filter really makes for some neat effects when shooting water. I hope you guys enjoy, share and comment below!
March 1st, 2014 - Bird in Flight
Today's daily photo isn't anything super exciting but I have a couple more of these bird photos I thought were kind of cool so I am throwing them in randomly so I don't give you the same location every day. This was really my first attempt at shooting birds and I kind of dug the fact that I caught one in flight. In hindsight had I known I was gonna catch them flying I would have bumped my ISO and shutter speed a bit to really freeze em. Lessons for next time right? You guys dig the birds? Let me know and maybe I'll do some more this spring.
